R.L. Burnside Blues Explosion
Le grand R.L. Burnside nous a quitté jeudi matin à Memphis dans le Tennessee. Il avait 78 ans.
Né en 1926, dans le Mississippi, R.L. Burnside fit ses gammes à partir de 16 ans, avec d'autres prestigieux bluesmen du Delta, Mississippi Fred McDowell ou Muddy Waters. C'est seulement dans les années 90 qu'il décida de graver sur disque le résultat de ses performances scéniques en devenant la première signature du label Fat Possum. Dés lors, il devint la coqueluche d'une nouvelle génération (Beastie Boys, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion ou Lyrics Born, ...) admirative de ce blues électrique et hypnotique. Il laisse cinq album, tous chez Fat Possum, dont le fameux A Ass Pocket O' Whiskey, produit par Jon Spencer.
